Padel Americano, Mexicano and King of the Court generator

In short

Type in your players, pick Americano or Mexicano and the points a match, and the generator draws the courts and partners. Type each pair's points as you play and the leaderboard updates itself. In an Americano everyone plays the same number of matches with a rotating partner. In a Mexicano each new round is drawn from the leaderboard so the matches get closer as the night goes on.

How to use it

  1. Pick Americano or Mexicano. Americano draws every round up front with a rotating partner. Mexicano draws one round at a time from the leaderboard.
  2. Type the names, one per line, or leave the box empty and set how many. Four players a court: 8 players fill two courts, 12 fill three.
  3. Choose the points a match. 24 points takes about ten minutes; 16 suits a short session, 32 a long one. Every rally is a point.
  4. Play and type the scores. Put in one pair's points and the other fills in from the total. The leaderboard updates as you go.
  5. In a Mexicano, press Draw the next round once every score from the round is in. Copy for WhatsApp shares the draw and the leaderboard with the group.

Americano or Mexicano?

Both are one session social formats with rotating partners and personal points totals. In an Americano the partners follow a fixed schedule, so you meet as many people as possible; the generator uses the same draw engine as the Padeliga app, which gives everyone the same number of matches. In a Mexicano the first round is random and every round after it groups players in fours by the leaderboard, so the leaders play each other and the games get closer. How each four splits into pairs varies between organisers, so the generator offers both common rules. See Americano and Mexicano explained for the rules in full.

King of the Court

The courts are ranked, with court 1 as the king’s court. After each round the winning pair on every court moves up one court and the losing pair moves down one; the winners on court 1 and the losers on the bottom court stay where they are. The two pairs arriving on a court swap partners, so you play with someone new each round. Every court needs a winner, so it needs a full four on every court: 8, 12 or 16 players. See King of the Court padel explained.

Not a multiple of four?

With 9, 10 or 11 players the extra players sit out a round in turn. In an Americano the draw makes sure everybody sits out the same number of times when the number of rounds is a fair one; in a Mexicano the generator sits out whoever has sat out least, lowest on the leaderboard first. Because sitting out costs points, compare players on points per match played if the numbers are uneven.

From one night to a league

An Americano night is a good way to bring people in. For players who want regular games, run the same rotating partners over weeks as a social league: one match a matchday, a new partner drawn each time and one table for the season. That is what Padeliga does for clubs.

Your data

Nothing you type leaves your browser: no sign up, no email address, and the names are not stored. Scores stay on this page and are gone when you close it, so copy the leaderboard to WhatsApp before you leave.

Questions

How does Americano padel scoring work?

Every rally is a point. A match is played to a set number of points, often 16, 24 or 32, and each player adds the points their side won to a personal total. The highest total at the end wins.

How many rounds should an Americano have?

For 8 players, 7 rounds: everyone partners each of the other 7 once and nobody sits out. The generator suggests the fair number for any number of players.

How is a Mexicano round drawn?

After each round players are ranked by points and grouped in fours from the top. Within each four the pairs are usually 1st and 4th against 2nd and 3rd; some organisers use 1st and 3rd against 2nd and 4th. The generator offers both.

How long does a padel Americano take?

A 24 point match takes about ten minutes, so seven rounds is roughly an hour and a half to two hours with changeovers.

Can I run an Americano with 6 or 10 players?

Yes. The players left over after making fours sit out a round in turn, and the generator spreads the sit outs evenly.

How does King of the Court work in padel?

The courts are ranked. After each round the winners move up a court and the losers move down, and the pairs arriving on a court swap partners. The aim is to be on court 1 at the end, and the leaderboard keeps everyone’s points.

Is the generator free?

Yes. No sign up, no app to install and nothing is stored. It runs in your browser.
